I was able to assemble this sofa myself easily, no tools, you just sort of fit pieces into each other. The ottoman legs and sofa support leg had to be screwed in (also no tools). Hardest part was getting the box off the dolly because it kept moving! The legs are solid wood which is great because a lot of sofas I checked before this had plastic legs that looked like wood. Seat cushions came vacuum sealed and those have a weird odor that I’m trying to get rid of (Amazon vendor was Cymax). It will be a week in 2 days that I’ve had the sofa and it still has that odor. The back cushions were in regular plastic covering, weren’t sealed and don’t smell, neither does the rest of the sofa including the back cushions. Fabric is nice and soft which I love. Seat isn’t too comfortable but the back is. Hopefully it breaks in a bit. Velcro keeps all cushions in place. I’m 5’5” and can lay straight out on the seat with a bit of room to spare. My husband is 5’11” and he can lay with his head propped on the arm and legs stretched out. A plus since we only had a loveseat before and he wasn’t able to do that. I sometimes sit in the arm corner where the chaise is because there’s a little nook there I like. Since the chaise is really an ottoman at the edge with a chaise cushion, you can put it in the middle if you want or put one short cushion on it and use it as a real ottoman and the chaise cushion horizontally on the sofa with the other short cushion to make it like a regular sofa. See photos. The velcro won’t line up that way, but it works. Novogratz responded to my question asking about this saying it couldn’t be done but I saw another sofa with the same ottoman chaise set-up where the company demonstrated that as one of its big features so I tried it just now. I haven’t tried it in the middle yet because our coffee table/ottoman is right in front. Only thing is you see the zipper from the chaise cushion in the front of the sofa, but if that doesn’t bother you... Oh there are zippers on the seat cushions but I don’t think it means you should remove to wash as I believe cleaning instructions say to spot clean.
